Quick TEQ: Microsoft has released its Mimicker Alarm app for Android, which wakes users up to a game. If not played in the next 30 seconds, the alarm will start ringing again. The Mimicker Alarm app is also a small sneak peek into the future of artificial intelligence APIs of the future.
Microsoft has launched the Mimicker Alarm clock Android app that shows off its machine learning skills. The Mimicker Alarm clock isn’t a normal alarm clock that will go off at the time you want. It is actually much more than that.
When the alarm goes off, you are expected to play a game. The game may be something simple to do, like take a selfie, say a tongue twister, or find an object of a specific colour. The cool part is that if the game isn’t completed in the next 30 seconds, the Mimicker Alarm app will assume that you have fallen back to sleep, and will start ringing again. When the alarm goes off, you can select one out of the three games to play to turn the alarm off: colour capture, tongue twister, or express yourself.
The motive behind the Mimicker Alarm clock app was to showcase the power of Microsoft Project Oxford, which is a platform of AI or artificial intelligence APIs that can be used by developers around the globe. Be sure to check out the free alarm clock app, from the Google Play Store here.
